Akselos was selected as one of 30 contenders for the highly prized free electrons award.
The Free Electron accelerator has been established by a global alliance of energy utilities with the objective of connecting the world’s most innovative technology startups with leading energy utility companies.
In February, Akselos was selected, along with 30 other companies, out of some 500 applicants for the 2019 program.
In early April, a boot camp was run in Dublin, where the 30 companies competed in a pitching process to showcase their teams and solutions to representatives from 10 global utilities companies.
In this well staged and intense event Akselos was called to the stage to accept its Free Electron ticket and so winning a place amongst 15 other finalists to run for the final 3-phase qualification process.
The next phase of the program includes three modules taking place over the remainder of 2019 in Columbus and Hong Kong, culminating in the negotiation of pilot projects in Lisbon with the utility companies.
Andrew Young, Akselos’ VP of Projects and Delivery is leading the pitch to Free Electrons. Andrew said: “At a time of energy transition Akselos provides a viable solution to help manage large critical assets, a characteristic part of the energy utility landscape. I am very excited about the possibility of running a Pilot with one or more of the Free Electron partners if only prove our point about the role of innovation in delivering safer and cheaper energy.”
Free Electrons is working towards a clean energy future, inviting and inspiring ideas in energy generation, smart grids, energy storage, mobility, energy access, IoT, and energy management.
