One ton of steel equals roughly two tons of CO₂. Early replacements create unnecessary carbon debt, narrow operating wastes energy, and inadequate maintenance risks preventable leaks and emissions. Extending asset life is now a climate strategy – not just an operational one.

Replacing major assets too early carries a significant emissions cost. An FPSO hull, for example, contains 50–90k tons of steel – equivalent to 100–180k tons of CO₂ before the asset even produces value. That’s comparable to 39,000 cars per year, 112,500 London–NY flights, or 75,000 tons of coal burned.
