IN THIS REPORT, YOU WILL DISCOVER
- How digital twin technology is being implemented in the offshore wind and oil & gas industries.
- How reduced basis finite element analysis is used to create digital twins and the benefit to offshore assets.
This resource discusses the implementation of digital twin technology in the oil & gas and offshore wind industries. Digital twin technology is used to estimate the true fatigue life of energy assets to unlock potential fatigue life and extend asset lifespan. First, a high-resolution finite element model is made of assets, using Akselos’ unique Reduced Basis Finite Element Analysis. Next, data is collected from strategically placed accelerometers and eave radar recordings, to calibrate the model and estimate the real loading on the asset. The result is a true digital twin of assets which offers a cost-effective way to extend the lifespan of offshore assets.
