Brief: Optimising coker cycling with structural digital twins
IN THIS APPLICATION BRIEF, YOU WILL DISCOVER
- The challenges facing oil refinery coker operators
- How Akselos’ engineering simulation software overcomes the challenges and the value we bring to coker operators
MORE ABOUT THIS APPLICATION BRIEF
All cokers in oil refineries endure extreme operating conditions, leading to asset damage and failure. Replacing the cokers is expensive and time-consuming, so operators are looking for ways to extend the asset’s lifespan.
Previously, analysing the structural dynamics of entire coker units in high fidelity and near real-time was impossible. Now, Akselos’ advanced engineering simulation technology can create a near real-time structural digital twin of the asset to understand its integrity behaviour to the highest level of detail. This physics simulation gives operators a real-time visual representation of which high-stress locations require inspection or potential repair, reducing downtime and increasing the asset’s lifespan.
