De-risking the design of floating offshore wind foundations using the power of simulation

Your handbook to more optimised designs and lower operating cost using digital twin technology

Explore our Latest Floating Offshore Wind Webinar

The floating wind industry faces challenges in cost and time to market due to lengthy, costly structural simulations based on sub-modifying and sequential design reviews.
This webinar presents how its technology enables faster and more optimised floater designs from the bid stage until construction.

Holistic modelling of structural behaviour

Our technology (RB FEA) allows designers to model their floater in one single 3D model, representing the entirety of the model, thus cancelling the need for long, cumbersome sub-modelling.

Smooth load mapping

Akselos has put a premium on developing a bridge between Orcaflex and the fine mesh FEA models in Akselos, allowing for fast load mapping.

Parametric FEA

An Akselos model is a parametric finite element analysis model, and designers can change parameters like plate thickness, young modulus, and geometry and obtain an overall structural response in an instant without having to go back to remodelling. This means that designers can iterate on their designs and obtain the best configuration at the best cust and in keeping with the standards.

Modular FEA

An Akselos model is divided into components and assembled with a patented technology allowing perfect asset representation. This componentized approach enables the creation of a library of floater components that can be then swapped in and out of the model in an instant, allowing designers to reach the optimal configuration for each site in a minimal time.

Speed

Once you have designed your floater in Akselos, it is easy to create a physics-based, structural digital twin that reduces OPEX and maximises utilisation during operations. We call this taking design into operations. It essentially replaces design loads with actual loads and uses sensor data to load this model. Designers, therefore, bring the power of Finite Elements Analysis into operations.

FAQs

Most of the times our customers model mooring forces as point loads and the failreads are modeled with extreme level of detail in Akselos.

Akselos currently supports mostly floater designers working on steel floaters. However, our solver is perfectly able to deliver results on concrete structures.

Yes you do. Akselos is a mechanical simulation software that uses inputs from Orcaflex.
