Akselos makes three heavyweight appointments as the company gears up for growth
Predictive Digital Twin developer Akselos has strengthened its presence with two leading global appointments to the advisory board and management team.
The appointment will support the company’s ambition to revolutionize asset management in the energy sector with its MIT-licensed technology. The tech combines the world’s most advanced engineering simulation software with sensors, data analytics and machine learning to create Predictive Digital Twins of entire assets.
Professor Anthony Patera, Ford Professor of Engineering at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at MIT, joins the Advisory Board as a scientific advisor. Patera is a distinguished and award-winning academic who has published over 100 papers during his tenure at MIT on the subjects of computer methods in applied mechanics and engineering, and scientific computing.
Also joining the Advisory Board as a technical and industry advisor, is Jens Peter Riber. Riber spent over 30 years with international oil and gas operator Maersk Oil, where he held various engineering and leadership positions, rising to Technical Director and Director of Engineering. Having overseen the design and construction of many of Maersk’s assets, Riber’s understanding of oil and gas structures and engineering processes will be invaluable as Akselos continues to grow in the industry.
Appointed as Senior Vice President to Akselos’ Management Team is John Bell, a business leader and veteran in the engineering software space, having been at the helm of many companies through periods of significant revenue growth. John was most recently CEO of INOVx and prior to that held senior global management positions at Aspen Technology and EMC2. With significant experience steering early stage companies in the deep tech sector, John’s 30 years’ experience across a number of sectors will support success in the energy industry and beyond.
Thomas Leurent, CEO of Akselos, said: “These new appointments mark the beginning of the next phase of growth for us as we aim to help operators protect critical assets with the world’s most advanced engineering simulation software. Anthony, Jens Peter and John each bring unrivalled expertise in their respective fields, ranking Akselos as a world leading tech company.
“Prof Patera is a leading scientific mind and renowned in the academic world. Having established the MIT team as a leading lab in the development of the technology that is at the core of Akselos, he will play an essential advisory role as we continue push the boundaries of what computational engineering can achieve for heavy industry. Professor Patera has no financial interest in Akselos, and so I’d like to thank him for his continued passion and commitment to technology development.
“Jens Peter carries with him an incredible track record in the oil and gas industry, and his experience will be of great value as we continue to attract interest from basins across the world.
“John’s experience leading hypergrowth tech companies will provide us with a real cutting edge as we aim to build on our early successes and capitalize further on our world-leading digital twin technology. He also has a considerable track record in bringing the benefits of frontier tech to the oil and gas industry, which makes him a perfect fit for the company.”
Akselos’ technology offers the energy industry real-time access to exact virtual models of large assets to enable condition based monitoring and predictive maintenance. The company has already been recognized as a game-changer in the offshore oil and gas industry, having created the world’s largest Predictive Digital Twin of a 300,000 ton Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO).
